The four health funds in Israel (Meuchedet, Maccabi, Clalit, and Leumit) have branches throughout the country, including most large cities and districts. Differences between the health funds mainly revolve around facility locations, supplemental policies, and additional services offered. Some doctors work as independent contractors (Atzma\u2019im). Urgent Care Clinics<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Terem and Briuta have networks of urgent and immediate care clinics. Both of these facilities are a great option for employment if you\u2019ve already made Aliyah but haven\u2019t yet started Hatama or don\u2019t plan on applying for specialty recognition in Israel.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Private Practices<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Anyone who holds a medical license is entitled to open a private practice. If you\u2019re considering opening a private practice in Israel, we highly recommend discussing this option with people who have already done so to get a bigger picture idea as to what it entails. We encourage those who want to open a private practice to consider also working in the public sector in some capacity.<\/p>

If you are a US citizen, Please discuss this option with a CPA who is familiar with both US and Israeli tax law, as there are implications to owning a private practice outside of the US. There are some fields that lend themselves to tele-health, and certain countries have a well developed tele-medicine system. If you plan to make Aliyah but would like to retain some\/all of your work via tele-medicine, please confer with your CPA and insurance provider regarding the tax and insurance aspects to this choice. Please note, you\u2019re also responsible to maintain your foreign medical license in order to legally work.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
